- Graphics: X-Plane 12 is well known for its realistic graphics, offering high-definition textures and detailed environments. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has also taken strides to improve its visuals, however, it still does not compare to the level of detail that X-Plane 12 provides.
- Special Effects: When it comes to special effects like lighting and shadows, X-Plane 12 again edges out Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 with more dynamic weather conditions and higher-quality sun flares.
- Aircraft Selection: While both programs offer a wide variety of aircraft models, X-Plane 12 boasts over 300 planes, while Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 only offers around 40 options in its basic package (additional aircraft can be purchased as add-ons).
- System Requirements: Even though both programs feature impressive graphics and visuals, they do require different specs on your computer system due to their size and complexity; for example, X-Plane 12 requires 8GB RAM, whereas Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 can run on 4GB RAM without any problems at all.
- Cost: Last but certainly not least is the cost factor – Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 can be quite expensive compared to the one-time fee you have to pay for purchasing X-Plane 12!
